My name is Bobby Meche pronounced (Mesh) and I'm 47 years of age and hope to be riding as long as I'm living. I got my first bike at 12 and rode the school football fields and neighborhood sidewalks on a 1960 Honda 90 for the first year before I had to put the pour machine to rest. I then moved on to a bike called a Power Dyne that was suppose to have been built by Kawasaki but the name fit the bike very good because the power was definitely always dying although when the bike was running (not very often) it was fast. Well after 6 months of bills from that machine my Mom says thats it I cannot afford to keep that bike running, so I started in on her about buying me a new Yamaha MX 100 when she looked at me and said you come up with half of the cost and I'll come up with the other half, I said ok I'll put the Power Dyne in the front yard with a For Sale sign on it and whatever I get for it I'll come up with the rest of the money if its not half as she looked at me and said you will s_ _t to and right then I knew I had to find a job and 10 minutes later I was calling to tell her I wouldn't be home until 5 or 10 minutes after 10:00 o'clock because the store I was working at didn't close until 10. Well to make a long story short I had the money about 6 months after our deal to half it and to this day that was one of the best things she ever did for me was to make me WORK for it. My first race was at the age of 14 and I fell in love with a sport that I wanted to be my career and the name of this first track was Pleasure Island in Port Arthur,Tx. and then a friend introduced me to a track in Houston called Rio Bravo and when I made my first race at that track I was scared out of my wits with 600+ riders. I faired pretty good I thought with a mid pack finish out of about 60 riders (2 groups) with 1 main after qualifiers but knew if I wanted to be top 5 I had a lot of work to do and 2 years later was running top 5 in the amateur class as there was only novice, amateur, and expert back then and I had decided when I turned 18 I was going to move up to expert which was only 6 months away and so while on the way home from a race in Conroe thought I would break the news to Mom and got a really big surprise as she told me when I turned 18 I would have to start paying for my racing.  Needless to say my racing was over as I was paying for my car at the time and chasing girls and had started the drinking thing here and there which was pretty fun too. Well 16 years later I had enough of the women and partying so I bought me a bike and 14 years later I'm still having the time of my life racing or practicing every weekend and doing what I love. I have been to Loretta Lynn's twice and hope to go back this year as that is a great accomplishment just to be able to go. I've also met some of the greatest people I have ever known and they are like part of my family and always will be as long as I'm living. Hope everyone enjoys this little piece as much as I enjoyed reminiscing as I type it. See ya'll at the track.
